Jesus is Lord, yes. Jesus is King, yes. But what was YHWH before the beginning of Heaven and Earth? What is the rank?
I suppose the idea that rank is even important should be discussed and is able to be discussed in great detail. Let's look at how things are ranked today in our democratic system generally. First and foremost you have the President who is the acting CEO of the country, if you will. He is the face of everything we do, and the epitome of what our country represents whether we like it or not. You look at how the rest of the cabinet is structured, and there are typically twelve representatives. In the day of Moses this was reflected by the highest rank being God, then Prophet, Priest, and co-priests, with there being anywhere from eight to ten priests. Yet here's the deal, you can't really rank someone who has very little authority, power, and influence as a high rank. Take, for instance, our checks and balances system that is currently acting in our country. The president has an agenda, and so does everyone else in the system in place. This agenda must work through the biases and notions/beliefs of the other people in the office, and often has to pass through the minds of like a hundred people before anything is ever truly decided. This is much different in comparison to how medieval Judaism was constructed in that Moses truly had complete power over the 600,000 people or so that he ruled over. If you disobeyed, you died. Simple as that. We can't do that today, obviously, it would seem ridiculous and downright corrupt if we allowed somebody to execute whoever disagreed with them. Blind obedience, however, is a concept that we must be willing to explore as people under God. In fact, it is what God challenges and asks us to do. Reckless abandonment is the standard of following our Lord. The longer you walk like the blind man you know you are, however, the more awakened to the truth you become.
So, what do we do with this information? Well, I've tried to provide a sort of demarcation so that we have an index to play with when dealing with the idea of "rank". I was recently reading an article about the levels of healing one has access to in Christ. They had decided to mark the delineation of "king" and "Emporer" which caught my eye. Some people have even commented that our president today is an Emporer, which is a statement that couldn't be further from the true definition of Emporer in my eyes.
Emperor is defined as "1: the sovereign or supreme male monarch of an empire".
"Supreme" is not allowed in the context of our government today. While when dealing with human nature, and the heart of man, this is correct I would challenge you to see this from the perspective of Heaven. In heaven, there is one Supreme Ruler, Judge, and object of worship and desire. He makes the decisions over all of Heaven and earth and sees fit that He judges these decisions rightly. To be honest with you, He is on a whole other level of rulership and sovereignty than any other emperor ever has been, because He knows all. He doesn't receive revelation, He gives it, and when His angels are sent out they are always sent out with a message, rather than being received when they have messages from earth or other parts of heaven. It's really quite amazing how intricate this system is, and yet how steadfast it is. The empire of heaven is not a delicate thing, and it is the job of humans to try to reflect this on earth. The reason that empires fall today is because of inherent corruption and iniquity in our spirits that we have caused. This is not a problem that Our Father in Heaven deals with. For God cannot lie. It is literally impossible for Him to lie. Why shouldn't He be supreme leader?
